School children across Wales will be able to show their support for the Welsh side during the world cup as school timetables are being cleared to host match viewings in schools.

The Welsh government have given the all clear for schools to decide how they will organise and manage viewings of Wales’s group stage match against Iran on November 25th.

Since kick off is at 10am, school children wouldn’t normally be able to watch the match, but the Football Association of Wales has organised ‘Cymru Football Friday’, with 1100 schools across Wales preparing for a “full day of football activity”.

This will be the latest event for school children in Wales called the ‘Gwyl Cymru festival’ launched by the FAW and Arts Council Wales to help celebrate Wales’s first experience at a world cup in 64 years.

On Thursday, 2300 school children took part in the Urdd’s Jambori event where they wore red and sang Wales’s official World Cup song ‘Yma o Hyd’.

The Qatar world cup kicks off on the 20th of November.
