RMT Union members are gathering at picket lines across Wales after rejecting an offer they say included a 5% and 4% pay rise over two years with thousands of job losses, a 50% cut in scheduled maintenance tasks and a 30% increase in unsocial hours.

Rail workers are striking today in a row over pay and job conditions. Commuters and travelers are being warned that the ongoing industrial action will have a huge impact on majority of train services throughout Wales. People are being advised to find an alternative method of transport.

RMT Secretary General Mick Lynch said: " We have rejected this offer as it does not meet any of our criteria for securing a settlement on long term job security, a decent pay rise and protecting working conditions."
