Rhys Webb announces his retirement from international rugby
The announcement comes just months before the Rugby World Cup.
Rhys Webb has become the third Welsh rugby veteran to announce his retirement in two weeks.
In a statement released on his Instagram, Webb said playing for Wales was 'a huge honour and I am proud to have been named as part of the World Cup training squad'.
Webb says it was issues within the WRU that lead to this decision, saying 'the present uncertainty and difficulties in Welsh rugby meant there was little opportunity for a contract that offered security for the coming years as I see out my professional career.
'When an opportunity to play abroad arose, during the off-season, enabling me to provide greater career security for myself and my family, I decided to accept the offer'.
Rhys Webb is the third Welsh rugby veteran after Justin Tipuric and Alun Wyn Jones to announce their retirement from the international game in just two weeks.
The retirements come as a shock to fans as all three men were in the Rugby World Cup training squad announced last month, and fans expected to see them all on the plane to France for the tournament.
