A woman from Caerphilly has been sentenced to life with a minimum of 20 years after stabbing her mother's best friend to death.

Rebecca Press, 31, from Trencenydd, Caerphilly, stabbed Richard Marc Ash, 57, after a day of drinking and drug-taking last July in her mother's house.

Before leaving the house, Miss Press told her mum: "I’ve just stabbed your best friend to death.’’

Paramedics were called and Mr Ash was pronounced dead at the scene.

Press then called her ex boyfriend, leaving a voicemail saying: ‘’I’ve just murdered someone. Please phone me now.’’

Miss Press initially denied murder, saying it was an act of self defence. However, on Monday she changed her plea to guilty.
