Search suspended in Porthcawl amid reports of person in water during Storm Jocelyn

Search efforts may resume during Wednesday.

A search of the sea off Porthcawl has been suspended amid reports of a person in the water during the blustery conditions of Storm Jocelyn.

The alarm was raised just before 6pm last night with rescue teams from Porthcawl, Port Talbot, Llantwit Major and Llansteffan joining in the search along with RNLI lifeboats from Mumbles and Barry.

It's understood a decision on whether to resume search efforts will take place during Wednesday morning.

Gusts of up to 50mph hit the South Wales coast during Tuesday whilst wind speeds of 97mph were recorded in Capel Curig in Snowdonia and 79mph in Aberdaron,

A yellow weather warning for strong winds remains in place until 3pm this afternoon.
