Woman killed after being hit by car near Abergavenny train station

A woman has been killed after being hit by a car in Abergavenny.

Emergency services were called to the A465 near the train station on Monday evening - where a car had hit a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, who can be named as Jean Campbell, 79, from Monmouthshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family have been informed and will be allocated specially trained officers for support.

In a statement Gwent Police said: "We're asking for any motorists or pedestrians who saw the collision or were in the area before the collision to contact us quoting log reference 2400415317."
