Wibli Wobli Nursery in Newport was destroyed by a major fire on an industrial estate last night (14th January).

In a post online, the nursery said they are "heartbroken".

"Our beautiful nursery and what is left of it now," the post read, "absolutely heartbroken for all our staff, children and parents."

Firefighters were called at 8:45pm to reports of flames.

At the height of the blaze, there were more than 75 fire-fighters and tactical officers tackling the scene.

Things have since calmed down, and crews will remain in attendance, dampening down and making up the area.

But for Wibli Wobli, the damage has been done to their nursery, which has only been up and running for about a year.

They have since set up a fundraising page, here.

The nursery had only been running for a year before burning down

"It's such a sad time for everyone and raising some funds will take the pressure off the team a little," said fundraising page organiser, Hannah.

Their post on Facebook has since been flooded with comments of well wishes.

"I can’t imagine what you are going through," said one, "the whole community is behind you," said another.

Gwent Police and South Wales Fire & Rescue service will investigate the cause of the fire.
