Skateboarders are expected to descend on Swansea's brand new skate park today.
The project, on the prom at Llwynderw, has been five years in the making, but a formal opening of the Mumbles Skatepark won't take place until the Summer.
Site owner Swansea Council have leased the location to Mumbles Community Council, who are leading the project which secured planning approval last year.
The location was previously home to less advanced skate facilities.
Swansea Council joint deputy leader David Hopkins said: “The skatepark will help improve people’s health, wellbeing and mental and physical fitness.
“We’re pleased to have played a key role in helping to make the project reality.
“The park will be a big positive for the skating community, with young adults teaching young children, building self-esteem and strengthening the sense of belonging.
“It’s something people of all ages can get involved with; it’s family friendly and accessible to all.”
Swansea Council cabinet member Robert Francis Davies said: “There was great positive feedback to the skatepark in public consultation.
“It’s well located for local skateboarders and has many other positives such as offering the potential to further enhance the Blackpill activity area
“We wish all those involved with the skatepark our very best for its future.”
