Llanelli Town AFC has announced he died while playing for their veterans' side yesterday

Tributes are being paid to former Swansea City player Mark Davies.

Llanelli Town AFC has announced on social media, he died yesterday while playing for their veterans side.

A fundraising page has been set up online to support his family.

The club added: 'Sadly, Mark passed away playing the game that he loved and graced for many years in this area.

'Mark will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. Mark was a truly lovely guy a a gentleman on and off the field.'

The Football Association of Wales' Chief Executive also paid tribute.

The fundraising page for Mark's family reads: 'After the sad news we received on the weekend of Mark Davies sadly passing away whilst playing for our Llanelli Veterans team in the cup final on 15th May 2022, we have been in touch with his family to set up this donation page to support them the best we could.

'Mark will be truly missed by everyone that knew him, he was a true gentleman on and off the field. His passion for football and his love for his daughters will always be remembered.

'RIP Mark ⚽️❤️'
