Man suffers 'very serious injuries' in St Mellons assault

South Wales Police say the incident happened late on Friday night at the Melrose Inn

South Wales Police have arrested two men following an incident late on Friday night.

They say officers were called to the incident shortly before 11.20pm on Friday (December 16) following reports of an assault near to the Melrose Inn in St Mellons.

A 29-year-old man had to be taken to hospital following the assault - in which a 32 and 33-year old have now been arrested.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Miles said: “A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital with very serious injuries.

“Two men, aged 32 and 33, have been arrested and are in police custody.

“Anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or has information about it is urged to contact us and quote reference 2200421348.”
