A man has admitted to trying to kill a heavily pregnant woman in Aberfan.

29 year old Daniel Mihai Popescu stabbed Andreea Pintilli, also 29, as she returned home from the school run.

Andreea was heavily pregnant at the time of the attack. She was taken to hospital and discharged the next day after medical checks on her and her unborn child.

After the stabbing, Popescu fled, leading to a 7 hour man hunt.

He was then charge with attempted murder, stalking and witness intimidation.

Popescu, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the first two charges, with the third charge being dropped by prosecutors.

The court heard how Popescu had stalked Pintilli in the months before the attack, by calling her on from withheld numbers, sitting outside of her home, and filming footage of her and uploading it onto TikTok.

He will be sentenced on the 28th of May, with judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke telling Popescu to expect a prison sentence.
