Man jailed for attempted rape of a girl under 16

Passmore will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life

Andrew Glyn Passmore, 41, has been sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of attempt rape of a girl under 16, assault by penetration and sexual assault.

In addition to the jail term, he will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life; will be the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 15 years; and has a 10-year restraining order placed on him.

Police Constable Natalie Cook said: “I would like to praise the victim for the strength they have shown during this investigation. I hope that now Andrew Passmore is in prison this will go some way to helping them move forward and begin to rebuild their lives as this has had a significant impact on them.

“For those who have been a victim of sexual offences please be assured that we take all reports of sexual assault seriously. We will believe you; we will support you and we will do everything we can to bring an offender to justice.”
