"Mixed emotions": Leigh Halfpenny speaks out about injury in 100th test

Leigh Halfpenny has spoken out about the injury he suffered during his 100th Test for Wales on Saturday.

Wales welcomed fans back to the Principality Stadium in style as their launched their summer international series with a 68-12 victory over Canada.

The Guinness Six Nations champions ran in 10 tries, although victory came at a cost after full-back Leigh Halfpenny's 100th Test for Wales and the British and Irish Lions lasted just two minutes before he was carried off injured.

Halfpenny suffered a suspected knee ligament problem, being hurt when he appeared to slip after going into a challenge on the halfway line.

"Mixed emotions"

Posting on Twitter, Halfpenny said: "Mixed emotions right now, not how I hoped it would go but a special day running out for my country to play my 100th international test.

"It's always a huge honour to put on Wales and British and Irish Lions jerseys and have had some incredible memories in both, which I feel extremely grateful for.

"It was extra special to have our home fans and my family back in the stands and congratulations to all the new caps.

"Thank you for all the kind messages."
