New Cardiff City boss Sabri Lamouchi has said taking on the job is a 'big responsibility'.

The former Nottingham Forest Manager was unveiled by the club at a press conference on Friday where he told journalists he is excited to be working with the team and staff.

The former France international has signed a deal at the Cardiff City Stadium to replace Mark Hudson after his sacking earlier this month.

The 51-year-old has previous Championship experience as manager of Nottingham Forest, who he led to a seventh-placed finish in the 2019-20 season as they narrowly missed out on a play-off place on the final day of the season before he was sacked during the following campaign.

Lamouchie told the club's website: "I want to say thanks to the Club and the board. It’s a big responsibility.

"When they called me and when I met Ken (Executive Director and CEO Ken Choo) and spoke with Mehmet, it was a really good discussion.

"Very quickly we found the way to finalise and work together. I know the situation of the Club but I’m here because I know the history of the Club.

"It’s not an easy challenge but it’s an exciting challenge. I'm excited to work with the team and the staff.

"I’m here and really happy to be here and very passionate about working."

Ex-Cardiff defender Sol Bamba will also return to South Wales as a first-team coach as part of Lamouchi's backroom staff, having played under the Frenchman at international level for Ivory Coast.

Owner Vincent Tan told the club's website: "I'd like to welcome Sabri to Cardiff City and offer him my full support.

"His appointment has come about following a period of serious consideration and reflection as to what is the best for our club.

"I'm confident that Sabri will be able to deliver what we know this squad is capable of achieving and I look forward to the games that we have ahead of us.

"I'd also like to welcome back Sol to Sabri's coaching staff, a sentiment I know that you will share. I want to thank Dean, Tom and Graham for their commitment and diligence during the interim period and am pleased that they will be part of our plans going forward."
