Welsh flanker Justin Tipuric has announced his retirement from international rugby.

This means that Tipuric will not be in the Welsh squad Warren Gatland will take to the Rugby World Cup later this year in France.

In a statement released by his agency, he says 'During the off season I've had time to reflect on my playing career and now seems the right time to step away from international rugby.

'It's been a privilege to put on the Welsh jersey and have so many great memories'.

In his international career, Tipuric made 93 appearances for Wales, scoring 55 points, and made one appearance for the British and Irish lions.

Tipuric confirmed that he will continue to play club rugby with the Ospreys, saying 'I'm looking forward to spending more time at home and putting all my energies into playing for my home region of the Ospreys'.
