Police confirm body found in search is missing woman Joanne Jones
The 49-year-old had gone missing from her home in Pontypridd last week
Police have confirmed that a body found on Saturday evening is that of missing woman Joanne Jones.
Officers had been searching for the 49-year-old after she disappeared from her home in Pontypridd on Monday (October 21st).
The body had been discovered late on Saturday evening (October 26th), with police formally identifying the body as her.
South Wales Police confirmed that Joanne's next of kin has been informed, as well as the local coroner.
Joanne's family have come forward to thank those who have helped in the search efforts as they tried to locate her, and have since asked for privacy so that they can grieve their loss.
Speaking following the discovery, Detective Chief Emma Hampton from South Wales Police said: "I want to express my sympathies to Joanne’s family at what is a very sad time for them.
“I also want to thank our emergency services colleagues and members of the public who assisted in our search effort over the last week.
“I can also confirm that we are not treating Joanne’s death as suspicious.”
