IT problem leads to 'sustained pressure' at the Grange Hospital
People are being urged to only attend in a life threatening situation
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is warning people to only go to the Grange Hospital if you have a life threatening emergency.
The health board says the site is under 'sustained pressure' because of problems in their IT system over the last two days.
Work is ongoing to resolve the issue but the hospital is extremely busy with long waits to see a doctor.
The health board issued the message on their Facebook page - as below.
"The Health Board remains under sustained pressure this evening as a result of two days of national IT outages outside of our control.
"We are continuing to work with Digital Health and Care Wales and our Internet provider to resolve this issue.
"Our Emergency Department at The Grange University Hospital is extremely busy and due to the IT systems issues there are long waits to see a doctor, particularly in cases where a patient’s condition isn’t life threatening.
"We need to ask for your support and to only attend The Grange University Hospital if it is life threatening or you have a serious injury.
"If you need medical help, please think carefully about the services you choose. If you are unwell and unsure what to do, you can check your symptoms at https://bit.ly/3NGMs9Q or call NHS 111.
"Only attend the Emergency Department if you have a life-threatening illness or serious injury, such as:
• Severe breathing difficulties
• Severe pain or bleeding
• Chest pain or a suspected stroke
• Serious trauma injuries (eg. from a car crash)
Please help us to make our service safer by sharing this information with friends and family.
Thank you for your patience and support.
