It's hoped more people will take up exercise and fitness classes in Port Talbot after yesterday's royal visit saw William and Kate battle it out on bikes in a spin class.

The royal couple were in South Wales looking at initiatives that boosted mental wellbeing.

They also took in a rehabilitation centre in Pontyclun and the HQ of the Wales Air Ambulance in Llanelli.

William and Kate visited Aberavon leisure and fitness centre to see how it's benefiting the community.

Richard Lewis is the boss of Celtic Leisure, which runs the centre.

He said: "We were able to show to them the importance of the leisure centre to the community and we were able to showcase what a marvellous facility we have at the heart of the community.

"We have options for everyone to participate on sport from early ages right through to our more elderly members.

"Certainly the Princess mentioned as we were going around the Shaping Us campaign that she's very much at the forefront of promoting. She was very keen to emphasis the impact that early learning has on a child's physical wellbeing as we as mental wellbeing".
