Four arrests following Merthyr stabbing

A 32 year old man is said to be in a stable condition in hospital

Four people have been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Merthyr Tydfil.

A 32 year old man is said to be in a stable condition with non life threatening injuries at the Prince Charles Hospital.

It follows an incident on Thursday afternoon at the football fields in Gelli Deg.

Police say a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the stabbing and he remains in custody along with two other men aged 27 and 37 who have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The 47-year-old man, also arrested for assisting an offender, has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

All those involved are local and known to each other.

Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
