Former political lobbyist jailed for making and distributing indecent images
52 year old Daran Hill from Cardiff was sentenced to three years and four months
A former political lobbyist from South Wales has been sentenced to just over three years in prison for making and distributing indecent images of children.
Daran Hill, from Cardiff, is the founder and former director of Positif Politics.
The 52 year old had admitted all five charges at a previous hearing.
During his sentencing at Newport Crown Court, Her Honour Judge Lloyd-Clarke told the court the children featured in the 53 images and videos found on Hill's iPhone and Acer laptop were aged between 3 and 13.
Some were classed as Category A - the most serious.
These were shared on WhatsApp and via messaging service Kik - both to individual users and to groups.
The court was also told he provided advice to others on how to search for and find child abuse images online.
Daran Hill was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months at Newport Crown Court - serving half in custody with the remainder on licence.
