Former MP Beth Winter has left the Labour party.

The politician represented Cynon Valley between 2019 and 2024 but lost her seat due to boundary changes.

Winter was a vocal supporter of Jeremy Corbyn and said in an online post: "I'll keep fighting for a society for the many, not the few."

Recently, she joined MPs from the Green Party and Plaid Cymru in signing a letter criticising the chancellor's budget, calling it: "austerity by another name".

In a statement she thanked her staff and volunteer team, adding the current Labour Party no longer "represents her socialist vision."
