Multiple crews battled fire in dome of National Museum of Wales

Fire crews are at the scene of a blaze at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff.

Post on social media earlier showed smoke billowing out of the building's dome in the Cathays area of the city.

The fire has now been extinguished.

A spokesperson for Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales, said: "“There was a small fire in the dome at National Museum Cardiff on Thursday lunchtime.

“No staff were hurt and no collections were damaged. The fire has been successfully extinguished and the fire service are now investigating the source of the fire.”

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were called out at approximately 12:06pm following reports of a fire at the National Museum Wales in Cathays.
