Several fire crews were sent to a large fire near Gorseinon on Thursday afternoon (29th August).

The blaze broke out on Swansea road but is now under control.

Seven motorhomes were destroyed by the flames and a further six were left damaged.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said: " At 2.10pm on Thursday, August 29th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Gorseinon, Swansea Central, Swansea West, Port Talbot, Llanelli, Morriston and Carmarthen Fire Stations were called to an incident on Swansea Road in Gorseinon.

"Crews responded to a large fire involving a number of motorhomes that were parked in an external car park. Crews utilised four breathing apparatus sets, three main jets, three hose reel jets and five thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire.

"Seven motorhomes were completely destroyed by fire with a further six damaged by fire, four private motor vehicles, eight vans and one minibus were also damaged by the fire.

"One small outbuilding measuring approximately 4metres by 8metres and one shipping container were also damaged by the fire.

"Crews left the scene at 4.50pm. The fire is believed to have been caused accidentally."
