Passenger dies following collision near Llanbradach

One man has been arrested following a serious collision between Ystrad Mynach and Caerphilly.

Emergency crews were called to the A469 near Llanbradach at around 6.20pm this evening, with the collision involving a single white Mazda car.

The passenger of the car, a 20-year-old man from Pontllanfraith, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

His next of kin have been informed and are currently receiving specialist support from specialist police officers.

In a statement, Gwent Police said: "The driver of the car, an 18-year-old man from Pontllanfraith, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drugs. He remains in police custody at this time.

"Officers investigating the collision want to speak to any motorists who were travelling on the A469 between 6pm and 6.30pm on Friday 15 December."
