A domestic abuser from Porthcawl who subjected his victim to controlling and coercive behaviour has been served with an indefinite restraining order.

Daniel Kiddier, 36, from New Road, was also jailed for five-years and three-months after being found guilty of 13 offences after being sentenced today at Cardiff Crown Court.

He had previously been found guilty at a trail at Newport Crown Court earlier this month of 12 counts of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Detective Constable Tyler Rowland said: “Daniel Kiddier has been sentenced today for 13 domestic abuse offences.

“I want to thank the victim in this case for their courage in reporting these incidents to us and seeing it through the judicial process.

“Being a victim of coercive and controlling behaviour has a huge impact on the victim, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

“Daniel Kiddier has now been sentenced to over five years in prison and issued an indefinite restraining order. I welcome this sentence, which shows that domestic abuse is not only taken seriously by South Wales Police but also the courts.

“I would urge any victims who have suffered domestic abuse in any form to come forward and report it to us or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
