Crimestoppers are launching a campaign to raise awareness about neighbourhood crime across Wales.

The initiative aims to inform communities, encourage vigilance, and promote anonymous reporting to help create safer neighbourhoods throughout the region.

The charity says:

"Neighbourhood crime affects many residents and undermines community safety and wellbeing. It includes issues such as burglary, vehicle theft, anti-social behaviour and other local crimes that impact daily life.

"Crimestoppers’ campaign seeks to empower residents to be proactive in safeguarding their communities by recognising suspicious activity and reporting it confidentially.

"Crimestoppers guarantees complete anonymity for anyone who provides information, removing barriers to reporting and fostering community involvement".

Around 10 people are arrested and charged every day as a result of information given to Crimestoppers.

Since Crimestoppers began in 1988, it has received over 2.2 million actionable calls and online contacts, resulting in more than 151,000 arrests and charges, over £139 million worth of stolen goods have been recovered, and over £367 million worth of illegal drugs have been seized.

Hayley Fry, Wales Regional Manager for Crimestoppers, says:

“Our communities are strongest when residents work together to address crime.

"This campaign aims to raise awareness of neighbourhood crime and encourage everyone to play their part in reporting suspicious activity.

"Remember, when you report through Crimestoppers, your identity remains completely anonymous.”

In an emergency, call 999 or 101.
