Emergency crews have been dealing with a fire at a charity shop in Abergavenny.

Gwent Police say they received reports of a fire at the back of the Magic Cottage shop at around 8.30pm last night.

The force says no injuries have been reported but a number of homes were evacuated.

A cordon is in place which covers Frogmore Street, Regent Street, Princes Street and Baker Street. The cordon is in place as a safety precaution and will be for some time.

Abergavenny Leisure Centre in Old Hereford Road has been set up as a reception centre for those affected.

People living nearby are urged to keep all windows and doors closed because of the smoke.
