Second man arrested following road collision in Cathays
A delivery driver remains in a critical collision
A second man has been arrested following a road collision outside Cathays High School in Cardiff.
The collision happened in the North Road area, in Cathays, on Tuesday lunchtime.
A 54-year-old delivery driver was taken to the University Hospital of Wales on Tuesday where he remains in a critical condition.
A 31-year-old man from Llanrumney has been arrested and is in custody.
South Wales Police say no further action is being taken against a 39-year-old man from Grangetown who was arrested on Tuesday night and has been released without charge.
The victim’s family has been updated on developments and continue to be supported by specialist officers.
“This latest arrest is a significant development in the investigation, and we would again like to thank those who have contacted us with crucial information,” said Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell.
“Detectives remain in the area conducting witness, house to house and CCTV enquiries.
“We are still keen to hear from anyone who has not yet come forward but was in the areas of Laytonia Avenue and North Road between 12.45pm and 12.50pm on Tuesday, especially those who were present when the van came to stop with the victim trapped underneath, and as the suspect ran away.
“The victim’s family are devastated by what has happened and continue to be supported while they remain by his bedside.”
