Cyclist died in hospital after colliding with car on Boxing Day

Investigations are continuing after a fatal crash involving a cyclist and a car on the A48 in South Wales.

It happened around 5.20pm on Boxing Day between Newport and Marshfield, near the junction with Pound Hill.

The cyclist, a 51-year-old man from Cardiff, was taken to hospital for treatment where he later died.

The driver of the Mini Cooper, a 74-year-old woman from Cardiff, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage, or any other information that could help with the investigation.
