Bute Park assault: Teenage girl due in court
The 16 year-old is due before Cardiff Youth Court today
Detectives investigating a serious assault in Bute Park, Cardiff have charged a 16-year-old girl with attempted murder.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested in the Creigiau area of Cardiff on Monday evening.
She is due to appear at Cardiff Youth Court today.
Three now charged
A 54-year-old man remains in a life-threatening condition at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, following the assault at around 1am on Tuesday, July 20th.
Three people have now been charged with attempted murder and detectives are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the assault.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wales said:
“I would like to thank the public for their valuable assistance as we continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident.
“While the charging of a third person is an extremely positive development, we are still appealing for information. No matter how minor the information might seem, it could be crucial to our investigation.
“In particular, we’d like to hear from anyone who was in Bute Park during the very early hours of Tuesday, July 20."
Millennium footbridge
“Specifically we want to speak to anyone who was near the Millennium footbridge, which links Bute Park to Sophia Gardens, between midnight and 1.20am.”
A Major Incident Room has been set up at Cardiff Central Police Station and increased patrols are continuing in the area.
Jason Edwards, 25, and Lee William Strickland, 36, both from Cardiff, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with attempt murder and were remanded into custody ahead of a further court hearing on August 23rd.
