Bus driver arrested after fatal crash in Mountain Ash

South Wales Police have launched an investigation into the incident yesterday afternoon

The driver of a bus has been arrested by South Wales Police, as they continue to investigate a road traffic collision yesterday afternoon (June 17).

It happened on Cardiff Road, in Mountain Ash, at approximately 16:50.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a 32-year-old motorcyclist who was involved in the crash with the bus couldn't be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inspector Dai Patalano from South Wales Police said: “The road was closed for several hours following the incident and the public is thanks for its patience during this time.

“The driver of the bus, a 51-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the offence. He has been released under investigation.

“Officers investigating the collision are appealing to any witness who has yet to come forward or anyone who has any dash-cam footage of the collision to contact us quoting 2300199828.”
