Officers with British Transport Police Officers are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault against a man on a train in the South Wales valleys.

The incident happened at around 12.50pm on Saturday 1 July on the Aberdare to Cardiff Central service, between Penrhiwceiber station and Abercynon station.

BTP say the victim walked past a group of people. A man within the group then made lewd comments towards him, before sexually assaulting him then making light of the incident.

British Transport Police were called and met the train at Abercynon station and arrested a 40-year-old man in connection to the assault.

The man is currently on bail as officers continue their investigation.

British Transport Police would like to hear from anyone who was witness to the assault or has any information that would assist their enquiries.
