Witness appeal after Fatal Crash

Police believe a 42-year-old from Newport died at the scene

Police say they believe a man killed in a car crash near Bristol Airport, is a 42-year-old from Newport in Wales.

Emergency services were first called to the scene on the A38 at Barrow Gurney at 7:35am on Tuesday 18 April and the road remained closed for much of the day.

We're told one car collided with two others which were parked and all three then caught fire.

The victim was inside one of the parked cars at the time.

Avon and Somerset Police say his family have been told and are being supported, while their thoughts are with them.

they add they are now looking for witnesses and dashcam footage of what happened.

Officer in the case Tony Hall said: "We're aware that distressing footage of this tragic incident is being shared on social media.

"We do have this footage and it does form part of our investigation.

"We are concerned about the impact such footage could have on the families involved and, potentially, on any future court case.

"I'd ask people to think twice before sharing it, and to report it to the social media platform as appropriate."

The driver of a grey Citroen C4 was assessed by ambulance crews at the scene but later went home.

The third car involved was unoccupied.

"There have been no arrests and the investigation continues," a statement from the police continues.

"If you were travelling on that stretch of the A38 between 7am and 7.35am on Tuesday, or have any dashcam footage or other information and have yet to speak with officers, please contact us."
