Gwent Police are appealing for information after a man died in a fatal collision on the A465.

Officers were alerted to an incident taking place on the westbound side of the road between Rhymney and Dowlais in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 31st).

When responders arrived at the scene just after 4:50am, they found that a quadbike had overturned in the middle of the carriageway.

Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service were also called to the scene, after a man was seen next to the quadbike itself.

However, despite their best efforts to revive the man, the victim was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. No other cars were involved in the crash.

Officers are now looking into the incident and have urged the public to get in touch with any information they may have.

Police are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the lead-up to the accident and have urged anyone who may have been travelling along the road between 1:30am and 4:50am to reach out.

Anyone who may be able to help officers with their investigations is being urged to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 2500171434.
