With the coronavirus pandemic bringing to a halt virtually every single UK TV production, it was looking unlikely that I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! was going to be returning for it's annual series this year.

Yet, last month, ITV bosses made the shock decision to bring the show to the UK and revealed it was set to be filmed in the rural countryside, rather than sunny Australia. And now they've revealed the location will be Gwrych Castle, Abergele in North Wales!

Announcing the news today (27th August), Richard Cowles, Director of Entertainment at ITV Studios, said, "The Australian jungle is such an integral part of the show it was a big challenge to find a UK location where we could continue to deliver what viewers love about I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

"But Gwrych will definitely do that; the Castle sits in an amazing and atmospheric setting on a hillside overlooking the Irish Sea. While there will be plenty of changes required as we move from New South Wales in Australia to North Wales in the UK, we are really excited to see how we can adapt the format."

Ecstatic over the chosen location, Dr Mark Baker, Chair of the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust, added, "Gwrych Castle is a beautiful grade I listed 19th county house and is a must-see destination for tourists. I'm A Celebrity being here will really help support Gwrych Castle and its ongoing restoration."

Does the I'm A Celeb castle have central heating?

After the show started many viewers were shocked to see the camp mates walking around in t-shirts, with AJ Pritchard even sleeping in only his boxer shorts!

Due to this, and the weather in Wales being freezing at the time, many viewers wondered if the castle has been installed with central heating.

However. a rep for Gwrych Castle was quick to respond, revealing the castle does NOT have heating.

Gwrych Castle is nestled in a tree lined hillside, which spreads across 250 acres of gardens and grounds.

Ant and Dec will return to host the show this autumn from the new location, putting the celebrities through their paces, where they will have to undertake gruesome trials and fun-filled challenges to win food and treats.

But who will be crowned King or Queen of the Castle?
