There will be a BIG change to the opening episode of I'm a Celebrity 😮

We are just days away from the new series of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, which will be the first series back in Australia, after two years at Gwrych Castle in North Wales.

Following weeks of rumours, the official line-up for this year's contestants was announced, and it includes singer Boy George, England footballer Jill Scott MBE, and Love Island star Olivia Attwood. Now, it's been revealed there will be a major shake up for the first episode of the new series of I'm a Celebrity, this Sunday.

Speaking to The Mirror, executive producer Olly Nash revealed the celebs will be split into three groups, rather than the usual two, having to take on multiple challenges. He even revealed that some celebs won't even make it into the camp by the time the opening show is over!

"It's much bigger than we've ever done before. And we're filming more (challenges) than we've ever filmed before," Olly explained.

"There'll be more elements lasting over more shows than has happened before too, so it's not all just going to be limited to show one. Not all celebrities will be here in camp at the end of Sunday's show."

Olly went on to say: "The contestants will be coming into camp in three groups, in stages.

"The first three celebrities will be followed by another three celebrities and they will get the pick of the beds."

Olly also revealed more about the celebrities' sleeping arrangements saying: "We have bunk beds which is a first for I'm A Celebrity and then we have a Luxury RV that was driven through the jungle about 35 years ago, broke down and was never moved. That will make a very comfy home for two people inside there."

During the interview, he also revealed that there will be 24 bushtucker trials in this series, with even more featuring two players!

Last week, bosses confirmed the start date and time for the new series, revealing the news on social media. Posting on Instagram, the caption read: 'Mark your calendars… the countdown is on! 🇦🇺🙌 #ImACeleb'. (sic)

The new series will start just after the I'm A Celeb special of The Masked Singer, which will air at 7.30pm on Sunday as a special one-off episode. The programme will see two of the biggest shows join forces in an exclusive TV event.

ITV said of the one-off special: 'In celebration of the iconic reality series, our celebrities may not be facing a Bushtucker Trial, but instead will compete whilst dressed head to toe in extravagant and utterly bonkers outfits, as the panel and viewers at home attempt to guess who is hiding behind the mask. Before the famous cast can scream, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, the panel will attempt to guess who could be masquerading in costumes such as a Witchetty grub or a kangaroo?'

I'm A Celeb X The Masked Singer will air at 7.30pm on Sunday, followed by I'm a Celebrity at 9pm, both on ITV.
