Woman dies and man in life-threatening condition after fire in Totton

A 25-year-old woman has died after a house fire in Hampshire.
Emergency services were called on Saturday (13 December) evening not long before 11pm, to the fire at an address on Northlands Road in Totton.
Police say the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, and her next of kin have been notified.
A man in his 60s, who was also inside the property at the time, has been taken to hospital and is in a life-threatening condition.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews from Fareham, Southsea, St Mary’s, Redbridge, Eastleigh and Totton attended and used multiple jets, hose reels, and an aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.
"A joint fire and police investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends who have been affected by this incident at this difficult time.”
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "Please can people respect the family’s privacy at this unimaginably difficult time and refrain from speculation.
"A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course."
