Two men stabbed in Winchester after argument with teenagers on a train

A third man was also assaulted

A man's been stabbed and two other men assaulted in Winchester following a confrontation with a group of teenagers.

Police say they were called by colleagues at the ambulance service to a report of a serious assault at around 10.20pm on Saturday 12 July.

It was reported that, earlier that evening, three 20-year-old men, all from Winchester, were involved in a verbal altercation with a group of teenagers on a train from Bournemouth.

Both groups left the train at Winchester. It was reported that the group of teenagers followed the group of men to Stockbridge Road before assaulting them.

During the incident, two of the 20-year-old sustained stab wounds. One of the men sustained a cut to his head, and the other sustained an injury to his shoulder.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment. They have since been discharged.

The third man sustained a facial injury that did not require hospital treatment.

Descriptions

The group of teenagers has been described as being aged around 16 or 17, and was made up of four teenage boys and two girls.

One of the boys was described as being white, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, with light brown hair in a curtain style.

A second boy was described as black, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with afro-style hair.

A third boy was described as being of South Asian ethnicity, around 5ft 7ins tall, of proportionate build with curly black hair.

The fourth male was described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, of lanky build, with blonde hair with a short fringe and shaved sides.

One girl was described as having blonde hair and the other brunette.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said:

"An investigation is underway and officers have been carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of what happened.

"We are keen to hear anyone who may have witnessed this incident in Winchester.

"Perhaps you saw what happened and have not yet spoken to us? Or were you driving in the train station/Stockbridge Road area at around this time, and may have recorded something on a dashcam camera that may help our enquiries?

"We also want to hear from anyone who saw the verbal altercation between the two groups on the train, which was heading from Bournemouth to London Waterloo."
