Two men charged with manslaughter following incident in Southampton in December 2023

Officers investigating the death of a man in Southampton just before Christmas two years ago have now charged two men.

Abraham Cilliers, 48, had been out in the city centre, when it is alleged an altercation occurred around 12.40am on Friday 22 December 2023, at the junction of Oxford Street and Bernard Street.

Despite receiving treatment from emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said:

"As part of our investigation into the incident, we have now charged two men with manslaughter.

"Darren Anthony Carter, 62, of Rothbury Close, and Luke Carter, 37, of Lackford Avenue, both Totton, will appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court on Monday 28 July."
