Two men have been taken to hospital with suspected burns following a fire on board a moored yacht in Lymington.

Coastguards say the blaze is believed to have started following an explosion below decks on board the vessel in Lymington Yacht Haven at around 12.50pm on Tuesday (June 11th).

Emergency services including the air ambulance, the RNLI, police and fire crews were all involved in the rescue efforts.

The two men on board were transported to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

A HM Coastguard spokesperson added: “Lymington Coastguard provided first aid, safety cover and evacuation from the vessel.

“We believe it was a flash fire rather than a continuous fire – which means it started from an explosion.”
