Tributes to man killed in Fareham dog attack
Ian 'Wiggy' Symes has been described as a 'loved son, brother, uncle and friend'
The family of a man who died in a dog attack in Fareham have paid tribute to him describing him as a loved son, brother, uncle and friend.
Ian Symes, 34, who was known as ‘Wiggy’ to friends and family was pronounced dead at the recreation ground on Hillson Drive in Fareham last Wednesday (August 10th).
Hampshire Police and South Central Ambulance Service were alerted to a concern for welfare call at 10:25am.
Officers are continuing invesitgations.
Wiggy’s family has issued the following tribute:
“We are overwhelmed with the tributes made and the flowers laid at the field. This is a tragic incident and the Police continue to investigate the circumstances.
“He will be missed by many.
We would like everyone to respect our family’s wishes, to leave us be and allow us time to grieve.”
A 20 year-old man from Fareham was arrested on suspicion of being the owner or person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death.
He has been released from custody under investigation while enquiries continue.
A dog was also secured and removed from the scene.
