Tragic weekend on Dorset's roads as two motorcyclists are killed

Police are investigating crashes in Bournemouth and Winterbourne Steepleton

It has been a tragic Bank Holiday weekend on Dorset's roads with two motorcyclists killed in separate crashes.

A 43-year-old man from Bournemouth died when he collided with a car on Belle Vue Road in Southbourne shortly before 1.00pm on Sunday.

The driver of the car, a Christchurch man in his 60s, was uninjured, police said.

Police sergeant Lee Savage, said: "A thorough investigation is taking place to establish the full circumstances of this collision.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, to please contact us.

"I would like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam"

Hours later, a rider was killed in Winterbourne Steepleton near Dorchester.

Police were called to a crash on Coombe Road involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a car at 7.23pm.

The man in his 50s from Yeovil died at the scene.

Police sergeant Mark Scammell, said: "Tragically, the motorcyclist lost his life and my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

"We are trying to establish what exactly happened and are conducting a thorough investigation of the scene."
