The south has done well in a new survey of the best coastal locations in England and Wales.
The study by outdoor shop Millets took into account Google reviews, water quality ratings, ocean temperatures, beach facilities, accessibility and parking costs.
Weymouth was second, Poole third, sixth went to Bournemouth while Gosport was 9th.
Tynemouth in the north east came out on top.
