Three charged following protest in Southampton

Damage was caused to the roof of a building.

Three have been charged people following an incident of criminal damage which took place during a protest in Southampton yesterday morning (Thursday 16 November).

Police were called at 6.55am to a report of a protest taking place on the roof of a building on First Avenue in Southampton.

Emergency services attended the scene to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of those involved, as well as remaining in communication with the owners of the premises.

Damage was caused to the roof of the building during the protest activity. No-one was injured.

Jan McLachlan, 68, of Norwich Road in Norwich, Gireppanavar Satheeschchandra, 44, and Adil Mian, 28, of Hills Road in Cambridge have been charged with criminal damage.

All three appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 17 November).
