Thousands compete in Round the Island Race

More than 6,000 sailors are racing around the Isle of Wight on Saturday.

Around 1,100 boats are competing in the annual Round the Island Race, a 60-mile course which starts and finishes off Cowes.

The fleet will head west towards the Needles.

The Island Sailing Club is staging a race village in Cowes Yacht Haven.

It is free to enter and will welcome all competitors, supporters, spectators and visitors.
