Teenager charged with attempted murder following Portsmouth stabbing
The 16-year-old is due in court this morning (Wednesday 29th)
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of a teenager in Portsmouth.
The victim, who is also 16, was attacked in Arundel Street on Saturday evening (January 25th).
Police were called to Commercial Road at 5.24pm after the teenager was found with a suspected stab wound to his chest.
He has been taken to hospital for treatment, and remains in a stable condition.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police said his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The teenager charged, who is from Leicestershire, also faces a count of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court this morning (Wednesday 29th).
A 16-year-old boy from Portsmouth arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder has been conditionally bailed until April 26th pending further enquiries,
A 17 year-old boy from Gosport, two 17-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man, all from Portsmouth arrested on suspicion of attempted murder have all been conditionally bailed until April 25th.
Police are continuing investigations.
