Teenage cyclist seriously injured after collision between electric bike and car

A teenage boy has been seriously injured after a collision between his e-bike and a car in Poole.

Dorset Police received a report at 5.41pm on Sunday afternoon (14 July) of a collision involving a white Nissan Juke and an electric bicycle on Ashley Road, near to the junction with Richmond Road.

Emergency services attended and the 17-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. His family has been informed.

Road closures were put in place as the emergency responders dealt with the incident and were lifted at around 6.35pm.

Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the traffic unit, said: “We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“I would also urge any motorists with relevant dashcam footage to please contact us.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
