Teenage cyclist dies following Portsdown Hill crash

A 16-year-old cyclist has died in hospital following a collision with a car in Portchester.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Portsdown Hill Road, Portchester Lane and Skew Road at 9.44pm on Tuesday (August 13th) following the collision, which involved a silver Honda Jazz.

Police have named the victim as 16-year-old Ethan Wilkie from Portsmouth. His family are receiving specialist support from officers.

An 18-year-old male from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving. He has now been released on bail until September 12th while further enquiries continue.

A 17-year-old male from Lee-on-the-Solent, arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has since been released with no further action being taken.

Hampshire Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, and anyone with relevant dash cam footage, to come forward.
