Southampton campaigner calls for ambulances to have access to antidotes for poisons
Mia-Helena Knight Nikolin Caisley says there's a "lack of awareness" around poisons and antidotes
A Southampton campaigner, who's brother took his own life is calling for all ambulances to have access to antidotes for poison.
Mia-Helena Knight Nikolin Caisley lost her 17-year-old brother, Vladimir, to suicide in 2024.
She tells us there's a "lack of awareness" around poisons and antidotes which could save lives.
She said: "This is not something that's readily available to various paramedics or hospitals.
"Despite the rising number of suicides, there hasn't been much progress in terms of ensuring that every paramedic force is equipped with this antidote.
"I don't want to think that it will require more deaths for our voices to be heard.
"But at this point, I do feel like the biggest potential for something to change in terms of what paramedics are equipped with, does come from inquests.
"So it's very sad that we have to wait until after something absolutely tragic happens to families for prevention of the worst possible scenario."
Ms Knight Nikolin Caisley has campaigned for online safety and forums assisting in suicides to be taken down since her brother's death.
