Boy, 12, punches man in ribs to escape attempted abduction

A man has tried to abduct a 12-year-old boy as he waited for a bus in Southampton.

The man came up behind the boy and grabbed hold of his arm, telling him to "come with me", police said.

It happened shortly after 9.25am on Tuesday, 8 November at the bus stop on Windermere Avenue, outside Millbrook Towers.

The boy punched the man in the ribs and was able to run away in Green Lane.

The man attempted to follow the boy on two occasions.

Detectives investigating the attempted abduction have released an e-fit of the suspect.

The man is described as white, in his 30s and 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall.

He had short, dark brown hair with a scar or a mark on his left cheek.

The man was wearing a waist length, dark blue raincoat.
